Gavin Smith

Gavin joins the Sarvis management team as VP of Land with nearly ten years of industry experience. Prior to joining Sarvis, Gavin held various land positions at EOG Resources and more recently at Centennial Resource Development. Gavin brings extensive knowledge of the Permian basin, both the Midland and Delaware, as well as the Barnett through his time residing in Fort Worth and Midland, Texas and Denver, Colorado.  

While at Centennial, Gavin oversaw operations and A&D activity for Centennial’s Southeast New Mexico position working closely with the Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico State Land Office, New Mexico Oil Conservation Division, and various other stakeholders.  Additionally, Gavin cleared over 100 wells for development as well as completing multiple trades and acquisitions encompassing over 15,000 net acres leading to a 52% increase in the company’s overall position in New Mexico. Gavin started his career with EOG Resources where he was responsible for multiple acquisitions and divestitures throughout the companies Permian Basin acreage position including over $200 million in divestments in the Midland Basin alone.  

Gavin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Energy Management and minor in Finance from the University of Oklahoma.
